Kata bunkai questions
- KIHON IPPON KUMITE
Attacker begins in gedan barai. Defender begins in ready position against kihon attacks.
- KAESHI IPPON KUMITE
Attacker and defender begin in a fighting stance. The candidate attacks an opponent who blocks and counters attacks. The candidate then blocks and counter attacks. The candidate strikes twice, while the opponent strikes only once.
- JIYYU IPPON KUMITE
Attacker and defender begin in a fighting stance. A person will attack with kime; the candidate will block and counter with kime.
- HAPPO KUMITE
Several attackers surround the candidate. He/she must execute a block and immediate counter-attack, then return to center in a ready fighting stance. Attackers will attack at random and one at a time.
- NAGAE WAZA
The candidate will execute several take downs, throws, falling and release techniques against grabbing attacks.
- GOSHIN-JITSU WAZA

- JIYYU KUMITE
Two one minute rounds of jiyyu kumite. Two rounds of traditional ippon kumite. One round of 2-on-1 jiyyu kumite.
- The candidate will be asked several questions related to any aspect of karate by the panel of judges.
