| UKA ASSOCIATION RULES AND GUIDELINES |

| 1)
Association: The UKA is associated with WFKO, ATAMA, and ISOK. This allows
UKA to be tied to the Japanese thinking, teaching and learning methods. |

| 2)
Instructors: All teachers may wear black uniforms during normal teaching
sessions. The white uniform must be worn at all other times. |

| 3)
Uniforms: All students are encouraged to wear a white uniform. No emblem or
patches allowed except for the UKA logo. ATAMA and ISOK patches will also be
allowed. |

| 4)
Brown Belts: May have Shotokan written in Japanese on one side of their belt.
This is an elective for the students. |

| 5)
First Kyu Brown Belts: First Kyu is a special brown/black belt. The belt will
have their name written in english on one side of the belt with Shotokan written
in Japanese on the other side. |

| 6) Student Black Belts: All first kyu (brown belt) students will
test for Student Black Belt. They will be allowed to test with a minimum of 6
- 12 months as a first kyu. The Student Black Belt promotion will only be
held once a year. A candidate not ready to promote
will be required to wait until the following year. A Student Black Belt has
the recognition of a dan black belt rank, except they are not awarded a dan
rank. The Student Black Belt will only have one side of the belt with
Shotokan embroidered in Japanese. The following year they will promote into
the Shodan Black Belt rank. The Shodan belt will have the student's name
added in Japanese along with a new belt. |
